To stay away from such scams on the internet and using it with full security, here are 10 tips that will help you prevent the scam from the internet, follow these and find yourself surfing on the internet safely!

  • Do not give out your security information anywhere on the internet:

This is an important one. Remember that nobody has the right to ask for your password or any other security information for any purpose. No company or individual is entitled to access that information and if you are asked for that, deny it directly without giving any explanations or without even thinking twice.

  • Go for Online shopping from an Authentic Source:

When looking for online purchase, make sure it’s done from a genuine platform because the credit card information you enter on the website is a very sensitive matter and you don’t want it to get to a wrong source. It has become very common these days that the credit card information is asked by some websites in the name of purchases and later the same information is used in making purchases by strangers. An easy way to identify scams and an insecure website is to ask on forums for reviews of the website. If anybody has had a bad experience on the site, they’d share it and hence, you can learn from the experience and save yourself from such scams.

  • Keep a track of your statements:

In case you find out about a scam or something fishy about a website later after making a purchase downloading from that website then make sure you change all your passwords and other sensitive information as soon as possible as it will save you from bigger damage. Also, keep a track of your statements after making a purchase from any website so that if any suspicious activity is happening, you are informed of it and stay alert to stop it before it gets out of hands.

  • Do not allow file transfer on your network:

Do not keep your network accessible to anyone, except when necessary. If you don’t trust a source, do not allow file sharing before confirming of the authenticity. Even if you do, make sure your antivirus is up to date and immediately identifies any scam coming your way.

  • Set up a strong password:

When setting up a PIN or password, it is ideal to use a password that contains upper case letters, lower case letters and sometimes also numbers so that when you enter it anywhere, it is not very easy to read finger movements. Another way is to always cover the keypad when entering such information in public.

These are the 10 most important tips that will help you prevent scam on the internet and save you from any damage coming your way. Stay alert and enjoy safe and secure browsing!
